Meet The Board

Sarah Weyrich and Sam Weyrich

Sarah Weyrich - Sarah is Sam’s older sister. When she was 2 years old her little brother came into her life, little did she know that’s when she would meet her best friend and number one fan. Sam taught Sarah all about advocating for those with differing abilities - and how to use her voice to amplify theirs. Sarah has been a professional actress for 6 years, a virtual assistant for 3 years, and she served as a caregiver for Sam from a very young age. Sam taught Sarah all about perseverance and conquering your dreams, despite the obstacles life might throw in your way. She now moves forward in life and lives by the mentality - “If Sam can do it, I can too” and hopes through this she can help others, like Sam, conquer all the things they know they can do.

Amy Weyrich and Sam Weyrich

Amy Weyrich - Amy is honored and privileged to be Sam’s mom and to have served as his “right hand man” for 24 years.  While Sam attended public school, Amy worked as a Parent Advocate in the public school district supporting families who have children with special needs through the educational process.  Sam inspired Amy to look at life from a very different lens and how to access, navigate and seize life in nontraditional ways.  In doing that, she also realized the great need to partner with others.  So many people were on “Team Sam”.  Amy hopes Sam the I Can Man Foundation will be an important teammate for others who want to seize life like Sam did and knows that Sam would be so excited that he helped out.

Lydia Weyrich and Sam Weyrich

Lydia Weyrich - Lydia Weyrich is Sam’s eldest cousin on the Weyrich side of the family. From a very young age, Lydia was drawn to Sammy—as she fondly called him. Whether it be Nerf gun fights, visits to the theatre, or whiffle ball, Sam is at the center of so many of her childhood memories in Salt Lake City. Lydia was born and raised in Central Ohio and currently lives in Columbus. She currently works as a publicist at Irvin Public Relations where she serves many of the city’s nonprofits and arts organizations.

“I never saw Sammy as anything but himself. He never felt ‘different’ to me. As an adult, I have realized that Sammy gave me one of the greatest gifts of my life just by letting me love him. Sam taught me to see all human beings as equally special, and to seek out those who might not be like me.”

James "Jim" Morris II and Sam Weyrich

James "Jim" Morris II - During Jim’s working years, he was the CEO of John Hancock life insurance companies distribution system in Boston, Massachusetts from 1999–2004. Of more importance, Jim was a very close friend of Sam’s. They both had a love for horses and the outdoors. Sam taught Jim far more than anyone could have imagined. They broke bread together and spent many hours just being good companions. Sam had a huge heart, a big smile and he made everyone around him a better person. Sam taught us all to enjoy life and not to get too serious. Sam did things that most people would be very skeptical about doing. That included white water rafting down the Grand Canyon, snow skiing in 12 inches of powder and horseback riding. Sam let nothing stand in his way. I am proud that I was one of his friends and I am committed to helping other people like Sam reach their full potential. God bless you, Sam.
